Textiles from waste

In preparation for my upcoming exhibition, I have been doing lots of experiments with shredded paper and encapsulating them in polythelene membranes. This was inspired by the documentary about “nothing and everything” I mentioned earlier on in the blog relating to quantum physics, and was presented by Professor Jim Al Khalil.

I don’t know why I started thinking in terms of textiles as I was watching the documentary. But one thing was clear, I was fascinated and inspired by the idea of trapped air be it in a building or a box and moreso, the fact that to us the air seems like nothingness which was proven by the Professor to be on the contrary.

The experiments are still on-going and I will post some pictures on here pretty soon. I am excited about the work and while I am trying not to think of its application at this stage, I can see its huge potential.

I shall keep you posted.
